Configuring Alerts in OwlyScan
Important notice
This new alert system is not compatible with the old terms of service, which used a dedicated invoicing model. If you are operating under the old terms, please contact us first at contact@owlyscan.com to ensure proper setup and compatibility.
OwlyScan provides a powerful feature to configure alerts for both Telegram and Tor, enabling users to monitor specific queries and receive timely updates without manually performing searches. Alerts consume a token each time they are executed, allowing for efficient resource management and targeted monitoring.
Setting Up an Alert
To define and configure an alert, follow these steps:
Navigate to the Alerts Tab: Go to the "Alerts" tab in the OwlyScan interface.
Add a New Alert: Click on the option to add a new alert. You will need to define the following parameters:
- Query: Enter the specific search query you want to monitor. For best results, test your query first by typing it into the search page to ensure accuracy.
- Start Date: Specify the date from which the alert should begin monitoring.
- Period: Define the time interval between two alert executions, measured in days.
Save and Manage the Alert: Once the alert parameters are set, save the configuration. Alerts can be enabled or disabled temporarily as needed, giving you flexibility in managing your monitoring activities.
Monitoring Alerts
The alerts system provides real-time updates on the status of each alert execution. At the bottom pane of the "Alerts" tab, you can see:
- New: Alerts that have been recently configured and are ready to execute.
- Error: Alerts that encountered an issue during execution.
- Completed: Alerts that executed successfully and have results available.
How Alerts Work
Alerts monitor changes on the darknet and Telegram since the last alert execution, providing a delta of results. This ensures that you are only notified of new, relevant information, optimizing the value of each alert execution.
Upon each alert execution, you will receive an email notification:
- If new results are available, the email will inform you that a new report has been created and is ready for review.
- If no results are found, the email will notify you that no report was generated.
Accessing Alert Reports
Reports generated by alerts are stored in the "Reports" tab, alongside those from manual queries. This centralized reporting ensures that all your query results are easily accessible for review and analysis.
Efficient Resource Management
Since each alert execution consumes a token, it is recommended to carefully plan your queries and execution periods to optimize token usage while maintaining comprehensive monitoring coverage.
OwlyScan’s alert system is a valuable tool for staying informed about potential risks and new developments across monitored platforms, ensuring you can take proactive measures to safeguard your digital assets.
